1. Gujarat State came into existence in the year 1960 as a result of bifurcation of former Bombay State into Maharashtra and Gujarat.

It is the home state of Mahatma Gandhi - "FATHER OF THE NATION"; Sardar Vallabbhai Patel- who is better known as the "IRON MAN OF INDIA"; Dr. Vikram Sarabhai- the architect of Indian Space Research Organisation; Shri Umashankar Joshi- a great scholar; Mrs. Mrinalini Sarabhai-well known personality in the field of Dance; Sant Narsinh Mehta, Kavi Nanhalal; Kumudben Lakhia etc...etc

4. AHMEDABAD which remained the Capital for a number of years was known as "Manchester of India" as it had numerous textile industry / processing units.
   
   
5. GANDHINAGAR- the new Capital of Gujarat is second only to Chandigarh which was constructed duly planned and with much greenery.

MAIN FEATURES OF THE STATE ARE : Gujarat State is blessed with a number of pilgrimage centers like Palitana, Ambaji, Dakor, Pavagadh, Somnath, Dwaraka, etc... as well as famous archaelogical monuments like Lothal, Modhera Sun Temple, Siddhi Saiyad ni Jali etc. Sasan Gir, Saputara, Nal Sarovar, Sabarmati Ashram are some of the attractive tourist spots in the State.
